Here’s a simple guide to help you clean your bonnet and pillowcase the right way, so they stay fresh, soft, and gentle on your hair.
Why Cleaning Matters
Think of your bonnet and pillowcase as your nighttime beauty tools. Over time, they absorb:
Natural oils from your hair and scalp
Product buildup (like oils, creams, and sprays)
Sweat and environmental dirt
Without regular washing, they can become a breeding ground for bacteria and even cause scalp irritation or clogged pores. Clean fabrics = healthy hair.
How to Wash Your Bonnet
Most Yeye Mi bonnets are made with satin or silk-like fabrics, so they require gentle care.
Hand Washing (Recommended)
Step 1: Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent or baby shampoo.
Step 2: Submerge your bonnet and gently swirl it around. Let it soak for about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Gently rub any areas with buildup using your fingers—especially the inner band.
Step 4: Rinse with clean cool water until all soap is gone.
Step 5: Squeeze out excess water (don’t wring it!) and lay flat to air dry.
Machine Washing
Place your bonnet inside a mesh laundry bag to protect it.
Use a delicate cycle with cold water and a gentle detergent.
Air dry and avoid heat, as it can damage the fabric.
